Dr Joanna Bruce and Sophie Dyson established Myma Health in 2023 to provide advice, support and evidence-based care for perimenopause, menopause, contraception, endometriosis and other conditions relating to female reproductive hormones.
Myma Health offers specialist GPs with a particular focus on women’s health. Our clinicians work with your existing comprehensive GP and other healthcare providers. We take a ‘slow medicine’ approach, taking time to understand your specific condition and the whole-person influences on your health and wellbeing: physical, psychological, social, environmental, nutritional and activity. We believe in shared decision-making, involving you in your care.
Myma is Joanna Bruce’s grandmother. She was the eldest of four children, born in Glasgow in 1917 to a mother who was a cook and a father in the merchant navy. She lived in a family that valued education and gained scholarships to the local grammar school and then to read mathematics at Somerville College, Oxford University.
She wanted to become a doctor, but when she commenced university in the 1930s it was almost unheard of women to read medicine. She worked most of her life teaching mathematics at a private university. She had four children and eight grandchildren and managed to keep her job in spite of the barriers that existed in society to working motherhood.
The practice is named after her as she was a strong, independent woman who gave Jo her love of learning and provided her with support and encouragement through medical school.
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm, Tower 2 Westfield Bondi Junction.
